Ambien withdrawal ? How long before you can sleep?

I started on Ambien CR 8 months ago. Dose started at 6.5mg a night. Then it was increased to 12.5 a night. I've been having noticable short term memory loss, and the ambien just doesn't seem to be working any more. I wake up feeling exhausted and have dark circles under my eyes. The ambien was stopped on Friday.
I also take xanax er .50 (one) before bed as well.
How many nights before I'm able to sleep again?
I have tried Lunesta - works ok- but still a hypnotic. Trazadone- never worked for me just gave me a headache. I felt hung over and dizzy the next day.
I also take Welbutrin XR 150MG in the AM.
Please tell me about your experiences with stopping Ambien. I NEVER thought it would be this tough. I need to sleep. Any suggestions would be helpful.
