Two years after that I was put on 600mg/day Trileptal, for supposed panic attacks (actually w/d symptoms from other medication) and then I had a big problem to quit. It took me about 6 months to completely wean off.

But somehow I resisted and in a few weeks more things started to improve slowly. Probably the fact that I was taking mirtazapine too helped me to get back to sleep. But this is not a solution, because mirtazapine itself may have very severe w/d symptoms, including the lack of sleep.

I just switched from trileptal to tegretol (for trigeminal neuralgia) and had no wean off the trileptal. Within 36 hrs, my blood pressure shot up sky high (I don't have high blood pressure) and it continues to range anywhere from 160/100 to 200/100. I'm now on day 3 of the symptoms and getting through it day by day, but the blood pressure issue is concerning. The neurologist firmly denies any relation between the 2 events and states that I've developed high blood pressure. Sorry, but I think not. Seems way too coincidental to be 36 hrs into a total wash out and to suddenly develop high blood pressure.

I'm searching to find out more and can't find any information connecting the 2 events, but I know it to be true. In my body at least.
