Going Off Effexor XR

Posted by LawMom on March 13, 2006, at 13:02:54

New here but wanted to share my bit of story.

Been on Effexor XR for almost 2 years. At first, 75 mg and now 150 mg since last May.

Have battled depression since I was a teen but not diagnosed until 1992. I'm 49. Was initially put on Prozac and then varying dosages. Psychiatrist thought it quit working so switched me to Effexor XR in 2004.

Have done much research and reading recently and decided I want off antidepressants. I want to manage the depression with a holistic approach: counseling, healthy eating, exercise, Omega 3, support sytem of friends and/or support group, etc. I'm convinced there are many childhood issues that I've yet to fully address.

I'm posting my experiences at www.depressionchronicles.blogspot.com as it's easier since I post to a few online communities.

I wish you all the best and will try to drop in.
