Jeroen,
This sounds somewhat like tourette's syndrome (which I have had since my late preteen years). It exhibits itself with similar symptoms: uncontrollable facial tics and the like. Severe cases cause people to bark out loud and perform strange and unnatural body movements. It is hereditary (my school-teacher son has a mild case as I do) and my research on it a number of years ago revealed only that it can only be somewhat controlled but not cured, but controlling it was in many respects worse than the actual tourettes.
I did learn over the course of several years how to redirect my facial tics to leg and toe wiggling, an excellent disguise and cover-up.
Or am I completely wrong in my comparision?
