Cymbalta withdrawls

Posted by Andy1100 on November 1, 2005, at 10:57:07

Hello all
I've been on Cymbalta for quite a while now, and it worked well for about a week after taking it for a couple weeks. It doesn't seem to be working anymore so as of last Sat (4 days ago) I stopped taking it. Before I get into the last 4 days, I want to mention the side effects while I was taking it. I seem to wake up at 2:30 every morning and have a hard time getting back to sleep, constant diarhea, a feeling of anxiety of tight chest fast heartbeat. I'm pretty sure that due to the medication (since I've never had the problem before) and the diarhea, I had to have a colonoscopy due to severe bleeding. I'm 31 by the way. I didn't like how the side effects and it didn't seem to be doing anything positive anyway so I stopped 4 days ago. Since I've stopped I've been extremely tired, but have a hard time sleeping, I get these electric shock impulses that are really strange. I feel like my head is swimming all the time. I've been depressed (not suicidal)but I chalk that up to being in the process of leaving my wife, and trying to start a new life on my own. (Great timing huh?) What I would really like to know is how long do I have to put up with the withdrawl symptoms. I'm not going to take any more meds (maybe Benadryl since I've read here that it helps) and I just want to know how long this struggle is going to be, and if I should expect it to get worse? I do smoke, and after reading that smoking may have an effect on the electric shock thing, I think I can confirm that, but quitting is one of the positive things I want to do for myself anyway. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
