Wow! I just found this site and am amazed at all of the responces. Let me start off by saying I am a 24year old female and was perscribed Effexor by my OB-GYN!?! Not sure if that's really normal. I dont even see a therapist which would probably be smart to do while on this med.
I tried for 6 months to get OFF Effexor by slowing taking smaller doses because I was experiencing NIGHT SWEATS and TERRIBLE DREAMS. So, I went to the doc and he said try the 37.5mg. Did that for about 3 months and then started taking them every other day. That's when I started having the dizzy spells. It was almost like when I would turn my head to the side, it would take a moment for my eyes to catch up. I know, wierd.
Then, I got so fed up, I started taking them every 2 days. BUT, on that second day, I was dying. I was literally like this is HELL and I am being punished. I did that for about 2 months and I finally just stopped taking them!On the fourth day of not taking any Effexor I was still experiencing mild side effects but the sweats were gone and my dreams weren't as bad.
It has now been 11 days since I last took Effexor and I feel better. No more night sweats, bad dreams, and very mild dizziness.
BUT, I am feeling sad, depressed and like my world is over. (really not trying to sound overly dramatic but, we all have those days. And having them while having withdrawals from Effexor seem to make you feel like dirt). I don't know! Trying to explain side effects of Effexor are difficult, especially trying to explain it to those who have never experienced it.Does anyone else feel a bit crazy when trying to explain the side effects to others not taking the drug???
Well, I hope I am done for good with all anti-depressants. I wish I would have known about the terrible side effects prior but no one had really taken them. Now there is this whole website contributed to others like me!
