Hi, I've been reading the posts on withdrawal, and am amazed at you guys doing this cold-turkey.
I switched from Effexor Xr (225) to Prozac (30 mg) over the weekend, and got intense withdrawal symptoms: neck shocks (nasty--ugh!), feeling like I'd hit a wall, knocked out, nausea. I'd gotten withdrawal symptoms when I'd forget to take Effexor, so was a little prepared. My psych increased the prozac to 40 mg, and that's done the trick to subdue most of the symptoms. The neck zaps are mostly gone, and otherwise I'm much, MUCH better. I feel human again!!!
I can't imagine toughing this out by going cold-turkey. Hm, on the other hand, I did feel like I could 'handle' this and wait it out when I was feeling rotten, though... My husband insisted I call my psych, and I'm so glad I did--the increased Prozac dosage has made a huge difference.
I guess I'm writing to say PLEASE, please don't do this cold-turkey or on your own: stopping Effexor doesn't have to be this way. And: good luck with your transition, however you're doing it. Hang in there, and demand help with this if you're going through withdrawal.
Hugs,
Tiggercat
