Hi Melissa,

*Yes*, when I stopped taking Effexor I had terrible itching. First my arm would itch, then my foot, head, arm again, leg and so forth. It was random and continuous. I thought I would scratch myself raw. Went to the doctor and he never connected it to stopping the medication. He asked the usual questions: are you using a different soap?, eat anything different?, etc...He just told me to come back if it got worse.

Unfortunately I had a whole host of other withdrawal symptons and I went back all right because I felt like I was going crazy. My doctor put me back on Effexor. (I am now trying to taper more slowly.) The itching ceased after taking the med. again.

I don't know how long the itching will last.

I'm talking on my back, especially, and arms... sometimes my legs and stomach... and I can't figure it out! I haven't changed any sort of lotion, shampoo, or detergent lately, or gone ON any new medicines... has anyone else had troubles with this? I think I might have to buy some calamine lotion or something. I scratch and scratch my back and it won't go away. It's so uncomfortable, now that it's getting hot. Also, I thought it may be allergies for awhile, but even on days I take Claritin it doesnt help.
