Effexor Withdrawal - CopingTips

Posted by KarmicJustice on May 1, 2005, at 5:16:17

(1) Meclizine (a/k/a Non-Drowsy Dramamine, available over the counter) is a godsend, and a cheap one at that - around $4 for the generic kind at Walgreens. Going off Effexor caused me to have that awful motion sickness feeling from just from walking around. Meclizine has helped tremendously - I just wish I had read about this a week ago when I stopped Effexor. The downside of it for me is that it makes me a little wired, but hell, I can deal with that. Take 1 25mg tablet every 12 hours, not more than 2 in 24 hours unless directed by a physician.

(2) Root beer icepops. This has helped with the nausea feeling and the dry-mouth from Meclizine (which, by the way, is an antihistimine). Use either really flat root beer poured into an ice cube tray or root beer flavoring used to make sno-cones.

(3) Hang in there - you can do it. Watch funny movies, pet the dog, read this board, whatever you can do to get by. It gets better (I PROMISE!) but in the meanwhile be good to yourself.
