The first thing you have to do is not run out of Klonopin-which means you have to tell the doc what's going on. I personally don't like his threat of cutting you off from the meds-all that does is create fear and the withdrawal is at least somewhat dangerous. I find that unprofessional. If you can't get the doc to accept that this is where you are and then help you to get where you want to be, you need a new doc. He's supposed to be helping you, right?
The flip side of the issure is that he has to have a suggestion for an alternative to the 10 mg Klonopin, which is a hefty dose for anxiety, although people take 20 mg Klonopin for other purposes. I do think you need an alternative to 10 mg Klonopin, but since you seem to be functioning well, why not try an extended taper (the standard technique) after the doc figures out what meds are needed to calm you down?
Your doc may think you are simply being irresponsible with the Klonopin unless you tell him you realize you need to do something-but he needs to help you, not threaten to cut off your meds. My advice for the now would be neither to increase nor decrease the Klonopin until you have a plan in place with medical personell. Best of luck.
