Klonopin is 1/2 as potent as alprazolam (Xanax) at a given does. The rate at which a drug is absorbed and crosses the blood-brain barrier has a big impact on how "high" it makes you feel. Also, Xanax has a relatively short half-life, while Klonopin is designed to remain in the system quite a bit longer.
