In reply to Horrible session; time to REALLY terminate?, posted by healingmysoul on July 15, 2010, at 21:04:42
Healingmysoul,
I truly understand the aches and pains of having a therapist leave for long periods of time. My own therapist frequently leaves to visit family. What helped me was talking about it EXTENSIVELY. I need(ed) the reassurance that she will return, she thinks of me, and she cares. When she went away for 2 weeks the first time, I was tempted to terminate. What I realized (with her help of course) was that I wanted to run away from her before she ran away from me. It's still hard to have her away, but each time I get a tiny bit stronger in knowing that she is in my heart. Ultimately, what matters (to me) is that she comes back and we resume therapy and we reconnect.
