hi Orchid,
I googled myself, too! :) And my husband, to see if we came up.I've googled people in whom I've had an interest, but not excessively. Mostly it's been people I've lost touch with, but once liked a lot, and I'm curious about what they're doing now. Actually none of those searches found the person in question, which was kind of annoying. So they remain in the past.
I googled my grandparents to see if I could get any cool family history, but as I suspected there was nothing to find. I was hoping for some cool info about "the old country" and life there, but I'm sure most of the records are verbal, not written, and certainly not on the net. Although -- I wonder if that big Mormon database would have them in it? Don't they have really good family tree searches, even for non-Mormons?
I would consider it excessive to pay for one of those services that provides more detailed information, if it's not for an important family member of lost friend -- if it's for a T or doctor or teacher or etc. I think it would also be excessive to google them multiple times just to see their name come up, or something like that.
What do you think about it all?
