The actual fear is being present when someone vomits. I know the origin and all. But there is a shootoff belief that anywhere I know vomit has been is contaminated.
I mean, I know vomit has probably been lots of places I touch. But if I have actually seen it someplace, it's contaminated and I can't touch it. So I'll circle around spots in my parent's house, or one in my front yard, and in a few parking lots. Wherever I know it's been.
But the fear of being around when someone is vomiting is even more debilitating.
I'm much better than I once was.
If you do an internet search on emetophobia, there are sites devoted specifically to it. Though most are geared toward the fear of throwing up yourself.
(Which I don't actually. But I'm not afraid to. I just don't.)
