What a great insight, Racer. You should be very proud of yourself.

Our coping strategies are things we learned in our earlier days. They were adaptive at that time: they helped us, they kept us safe. And we did learn them well. But now our world is different (we are no longer children living with our parents for one thing), and perhaps the things we needed to protect ourselves from in the past no longer exist. It is *so* hard to unlearn those skills, to believe that the world *is* different now.
