I'm so glad you decided to share. I had been wondering what on earth EMDR was! It sounds incredible. I have to say the reference about your cat almost had me in tears. I had a cat that was my best friend too. After 11 years she just disappeared one day. But I am eternally greatful for the time I had with her.
I've been looking toward more unorthodox ways of gaining peace and happiness myself. I've been studying the whole positive energy, negative energy, karma type concepts. I figure regardless of whether or not I believe there's something spiritual or mystical going on, focusing your thoughts on positive things sure couldn't hurt! If it works who cares how!
I also believe there is so much we don't understand – we only use 10% or our brains afterall! So I like to keep an open mind about things. I see no reason to make a decision on whether or not something is 'real' when I don't have all the facts.Things like auras, past lives, telepathy, any of it, why discount something just because it can't be explained by our current understanding of science?? (Remember, the earth is flat!) Some day there may be an explanation. So until then, who does it hurt if I burn inscense, meditate, and wear a tiara while casting a spell to ward off negative energy!
Of course I'm not saying EMDR is any of those things, I just think no one has the right to judge another person's way of finding happiness.
