Hi, steelcity...Welcome.
I'm older(mid-40's), but I first sought treatment for depression when I was your age--22. Back then, there were not as many meds available to choose from so I did not go on meds until a number of years later, when the SSRIs came out.
It is so good that you are getting help now. Are you in therapy as well as on meds?
I know that being in school can be a lot of pressure. In school, I think it can often feel like the work day has no end and no beginning, really--it is just constant. When I was in school, after working for a few years, I remember thinking that if I wasn't asleep, I was either at school, or working on school work, or feeling guilty that I wasn't working on my school work! I couldn't get away from it.
I hope you are in a field that you really like. That is so important.
Anyway, welcome. You'll find that there are people here of all ages and often the age factor doesn't matter so much.
