You are certainly not creepy! And looking up someone's adress in the phone book does not make you a stalker.
I saw my pdoc's address on some paperwork he gave me once and because I know it, it takes away the intrigue and I don't feel compelled to drive by. I know the general area (it's local) and the kinds of houses there, it's well-off but generic and suburban. Just driving by the house wouldn't interest me.
Seeing his wife and his dog on the internet like you saw, now that would interest me, but not the house itself.
My therapist told me what town she lives in, but I don't know the exact address. I would be curious to see it, but not drive by.
I guess you should ask yourself, what would driving by the house give you—a sense of his permanence or a sense of his ordinary human-ness?—and could you achieve that in therapy?
I would try to resist the drive-by. That does cross a certain line, and if he saw you or his wife saw you and she wondered, who is that, it could open a whole can of worms for both you and him.
