Krissy, I said the mood needs to be brought under control, I didn't say anything about the weight. I think taking on a 50 pound weight loss also sounds like a huge endeavor when you are having unstable mood.
What about focusing on things that can help mood that will also be likely to have benefits for physical health? Like small goals of increasing exercise in very small increments, which helps mood, or very small changes toward healthier eating.
Most of my weight gain has occurred after dieting, and I have felt that I used to set myself up for unrealistic expectations for weight loss, so that is why I'm wary of you taking that 50 lb loss on, esp. before you get your mood stabilized.
Think smaller, Krissy. Little, tiny goals. One day at a time.
