In reply to Jungian Analysis-what is it?, posted by catmint on March 9, 2003, at 4:37:26
I went for a short time to a therapist who was certified in Jungian therapy (I think it takes years). Because it was so time-consuming-3xweek, and he preferred 5, I didn't last very long. I think some of Jung's theories are valid and may be helpful for long-held beliefs, I don't find them particularly helpful for the difficulties one goes through during bipolar episodes. For that I think you need a supportive therapist who can help you with the practical issues that arise. Analysis comes when you are stable enough with your disorder to explore other issues. Unfortunately, I haven't reached that point. take care, judy
