I've tried to quit antidepressants and have felt ok for a time but then something always happens to send me spiraling into depression or anxiety. You said you only did the Effexor a week? You should really try it for a few weeks, 4-6 to see if the side effects don't go away. And what kind of side effects are you having? Have you talked to your doctor about it?
Sorry for all the questions, I just hate giving advice until I can have every last little detail. :-)
