Dinah,
Your post got me thinking. I wasn't bullied in school, but I was bullied at home by my older brother. My only defense was to pretend it didn't bother me and exude icy indifference. In adult life though, I once got into a weird dynamic on a job where I became the social reject, and I kept trying harder to get accepted, and the social leader just took more joy in excluding me. It was quite awful.

In my web-surfing I came across this site:

You might disagree completely with this site, it's a pretty extreme position. In a nutshell the author says the solution to bullying is for the victim to stop responding angrily. I found it interesting reading nonetheless.
