I think my computer might try and blackmail me into paying for virus protection. It isn't extortion, apparently, that the system might be designed to fail only after one year (after minimum warantee time, no doubt).
Of course the government could try and protect it's people with laws...
But the local newspaper has this whole 'special victims unit' sort of a scandalous narration on what this or that locally famous outlaw managed to do this week. Whether it be abusing this or that child (parental consent given to have their photograph in the paper) or drunk drive killing old people or cyclists or judges pronouncing abuse to be normal and socially sanctioned.
Of course this is the state of things according to the paper.
Best just cut your losses and flee with your fortunes...
Or spend the next 5 generations fighting for someone who can meaningfully parse meaningful English to hear you. Hear you say what you said, I mean, instead of only listening when you say what they already wanted to hear.
Revelling in the attention of abuse.

Oh please, someone give some charity thousands of dollars per week for the narrative...
I need to remember my computer needs me to need it more than I actually do.
If I just turn it off for a while it will miracoulously sort itself out. If it wants me to use it.
I'm sure.
It's so... Tiresome. Interacting with the awful. You could spend your life warily scanning for the awful and huddling from it.
Ugh.
