I don't know, or maybe I don't understand.

The separation of church and state is not something much talked about here, perhaps because we don't have to.

When Howard appointed Archbishop Hollingsworth (Anglican=Episcopalian) Governor General people started about that.

It was so obviously a reaction to William Dean's very popular tenure that Australians were unsympathetic to Hollinsworth's demise over the handling of a (what else) sex scandal.

The religious right is growing here however.

The current economic problem has shot their sacred cow, which might slow them down.
