Yes, I can remember when Clinton tried it.
He was under such constraints, and (on a related matter) I was very pleased when Obama explained that he did inhale, because that was the point.
At my kids' school one of the boys turned up for an all day sports day in a dress. If that had happened when I was at school, I don't know what would have been the result. But now, no one cares. The kids just laughed and mucked around; the teachers too. Catholic education has been very careful to be inclusive.
