I can't believe that there are many people who are undecided and that will be swayed one way or another by the type of ads that are being run. (If they are, then I'm not sure how I feel about how they make up their minds about these things.)
I hold very strong political beliefs - but, incredibly, I cannot vote. I'm a Canadian citizen, living here as a resident alien. It's a long story, but basically my mother's family paid a high price for their citizenship rights, only to have them snatched away through the circumstances of WWII. The family was split up and scattered in displaced persons camps, and resettled after their original homestead was claimed by the invading country. My mom has always made it really clear that being Canadian was pretty special to her. Neither I nor my sister have ever pursued US citizenship, and I've lived here more or less since 1983.
Probably more than you cared to know.
But just so you know that I care about what goes on in the place where I've chosen to live and am very interested - but at the end of the day, won't be able to effect any change myself. But that's entirely by my own choice as well.
