Last week there was a (redundant expression alert!) tragic killing in Indianapolis. The 20-something daughter of a local minister was shot dead - the daughter of a man whose life's work has been fighting exactly this kind of violence.
I'm happy to listen to the concerns of NRA members, but I'd like to see those who think Moses came down from the mountain with the 2nd Amendment on a stone tablet sit down with a man like and have an honest heart-to-heart discussion about how to protect their sacred rights without condemning the flower of our urban youth to senseless shootings.
Too many gun advocates respond to tragedies like this with absurd cliches about the real problem being not enough armed citizens - as if return fire would bring back a dead young woman. And in this case, it appears the young lady was well-armed...
