In a slow return to sanity (?), I came back here and was struck by this evocative name and its relevance to American culture.
There is a prominent politician whom I have long thought resembled not Orthanc's ruler, but his grovelling assistant, Grima Wormtongue.
Without identifying him (her?), we can reflect on why the type is a natural for politics.-z
