Where is that line between irony and scarcasm?
I'm wasting time on a bleak day (not the weather) in Sydney, waiting to hear Michael Otterman a New York writer who has written a book on totrure called, I think, "American Torture", and Eliot Weinberger who wrote the simply devastating "What I Heard About Iraq", and also Raimond Gaita, professor of ethics and philosophy somewhere or other, who is pretty good on the state of things and a reliable guide to the good.
Maybe, out of all this dreadful mess, our countries will end up with (what's the right word here....how about we settle for 'improved'?) leadership, the need now escaping no one?
Either some visceral reaction like that or we get the leaders we deserve.
