Right. I had the same initial thought - 'what a strange idea - how could anyone think someone would intentionally dynamite the levees'
Until I read later that it had actually happened before.
Hopefully these days with all the on-the-spot reporters no one thinks that they could get away with it again.
I started the one I started - in the flood <pun intended> of Katrina books - because it was written by a history prof at Tulane. I thought maybe it wouldn't be as sensationalized.
It isn't sensationalized - but it isn't especially well written either...
There's a corp of engineering built reservoir a bit upstream of a bayou from me. It was built to keep the bayou from filling up too fast and flooding downtown.
Since it was built (ages ago, before my time) there has been a lot of building up to the west of it, and the homeowners there sometimes complain that they get flooded and the only reason people on my side are protected is because we are "better off." Neither of which is true, exactly.
My reaction - it was there before you were.
