It always makes me think of that X Files episode where Mulder and Scully move into the planned community where the monster ate people who put up pink flamingos in their front yards.

I tend to get very uncomfortable with too much perfection. I like the charm that comes with just hte right amount of planning. Too much, too many rules, and I start to want to do something wild and crazy. Like the biggest pinkest plastic flamingos. Or topiary cut into obscene shapes.

I like just enough planning to have an infrastructure that supports the population.

But that's me.

Apparently a sizeable portion of the population finds something they desire in the idea.
