This is a message board for mutual support and education -- for new members, so they have a place to try out the site and to meet each other.
Here's a brief introduction to the boards here, thanks to Dinah:
If you're looking for information on conventional medications and biological treatments, you're probably looking for Medication.
But if your question is related to withdrawing from medication, including if, when, and how to withdraw as well as possible consequences of withdrawal, Withdrawal is a separate board for that.
There's also a separate board, Substance Use, that focuses on issues related to the abuse or potential abuse of legal or illegal substances now or in the past. Please remember that while it's fine to discuss the use of illegal substances, according to the rules here, this site should not be used to exchange information on illegal ways of obtaining substances. Also, please don't ask for substances directly from or offer them directly to others.
If you're interested in complimentary or alternative treatments, which, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine are "medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine", there's another separate board, Alternative.
Discussion about psychotherapy and psychological treatments, including but not limited to different theoretical orientations and techniques, the therapy process, transference and countertransference, and how to find a therapist, is at Psychology.
Social might be more appropriately named General. If you just want to talk, or to have fun, or if none of the other boards seems to fit, this is the right place.
There are also several less active boards, and I'm sure posters there would like to issue invitations to join them. Lack of response there is related to activity level, not to lack of desire to answer.
Last but not least, Administration is for discussing the operation of this site.
Feel free to search the archives or to check out Psycho-Babble Tips, listings compiled by Psycho-Babble participants of helpful web pages on various topics, including coping with crisis.
If you see a
member, please take a minute to say hi.
They might feel scared, and a warm welcome might help them relax and partake. And they'll be more likely to come back!
Don't necessarily believe everything you hear. Your mileage may vary. The only posts I take responsibility for are my own. In a crisis, please also get help in person. It's good to give as well as to receive. What you say may conceivably be used against you. Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish. Please be civil.
