This is the third or fourth time I've tried getting a massage when I'm all wound up. The next day I feel bruised, though I'm not. The massage therapist said (a different person each time; it's obvious why I haven't returned to the same one!) has said that I'm particularly knotted in one place or another, and it's really hurt when they've worked on me. I've told them so - and moaned! - yet they've continued to knead me painfully like some kind of bread dough.
And the next day, yikes! I dosed up on ibuprofen, but really this doesn't feel like I did anything nice for myself at all but instead allowed someone the pleasure of beating me up - and then gave them a bunch of money to do it!
I go back to my acupuncture/chiro guy on Monday for another treatment and I'll talk to him about it then. I'm tired of being in pain :-(
But what am I doing wrong? I *thought* I had asked for "relaxation" type massages - but every time I feel the next day like I've been worked over, and not at all in a good way. Is this the way massage is supposed to feel - and if so, why would anyone want to do this on a regular basis?
I think I'll soak in the tub today with a bunch of Epsom salts for my aching muscles.
