Racer,

I have not been on this site for years because some of the discussions actually made me feel sicker.

I was in a residential program probably close to 25 years ago for about three months if I recall. The program I went to was almost completely behavioral and experimental. It did me no good but I would do it all over again just for the opportunity to "live". I don't think they do things like that anymore. This program sounds very inclusive, dealing with the underlying problems. They spoke of the 12 step program so they are addressing some part of it as addiction I presume. I knew so many people who went to addiction treatment programs that dealt with the problem behavior only and not the root causes. This program does not spit you out without addressing the root of our problems.

I know nothing of your story save a few posts I read today. Your friends here who know you are definitive that you should go and I dont even know you and I would say the same just from what I read today and remember years ago.

You have been suffering with this for a long time, correct? I am not sure what your reservations are about going but if there is a chance it could improve your life significantly or perhaps allow you to have a life what do you have to loose?

I don't know if I am off base here but for anyone suffering from such anguish in their lives it is my opinion that taking a few months or whatever it takes from your regular family routine, perhaps anticipating it to be difficult or finding yourself not wanting to give up coping mechanisms you have had for years going ahead with treatment anyway is the strong road to take, the one that might lead to a better place.

It is reap with possibilities just over the horizon. An opportunity to "live".

I wish you all that life has to offer. I hope you will learn to accept, enjoy and be a vital part of your life.

Love,

Irene
