To be honest, I think as a community we do pretty well. Right now we're going through a hard time, and it seems like it will be forever-- or is the last word. Maybe it is; maybe it isn't. But it doesn't negate all the good that's happened here and happens here-- unnoticed or unappreciated maybe.
What with all the recent disillusionment and anger or opposition, I think we've managed to accommodate a lot of people and different views without too much displaced rage and frustration.
I guess we can all talk ourselves into believing this place is no good and other posters are ill=tempered or uncaring. And I"m sure we all fall short of the ideal. Words are powerful and maybe we can bury ourselves with harsh words about the futility of what we're doing and what's in store. But I also think we can remake or rebuild what's been lost--if we want to.
Maybe we don't. Maybe we're ready to move on. But I still would like to see what's good about this place in the past and present given a little more respect and acknowledgement-- if not honor.
