I don't know about anyone else, but I prefer that Dr. Bob remain behind a wall of approachability. The boundaries that he places between posters and himself may seem sterile or stoic, but it probably serves to help people feel that they are being treated equally and fairly. It is not personal. One would think that doing so would avoid unnecessary drama and hurt feelings, but these things happen here anyway. Is it possible that the wall isn't thick enough? I don't know. For sociopsychological reasons that I am sure are knowable, the dynamics of the relationship between Dr. Bob and a large proportion of the posting community often appears strained. Is Dr. Bob too "hands-on"?
