Well, for me the change was the reading of our posts vs. the use of our posts, and who had the right to do what. When we registered at Babble, we gave Dr. Bob right to *use* our posts. We knew they were googleable. We knew that he used them in his writings, though I think he changes the user names when he does that. It was not true at the time that he facilitated the *use* of our posts by third parties.
Moreover, when the twitter thing came up before, many people were opposed and opted out. So even more than it would be otherwise, it is a question of respect and trust. At some level many people need to feel they can trust the administrator of this site to respect them. I did not opt out of the original twitter by Dr. Bob, because to me it was still Dr. Bob using our posts, and I had already given him permission to do that and sufficiently trusted how he would use them.
Mind you, I know people always *could* use our posts. They could cut and paste, or print out, or tweet or link url's. And there are many cases where I don't see that as a problem. I would never mind someone saving a post for their own use, or printing it out to bring to their therapist. That would be fine because it was a private use. I might mind if they made my post into flyers and handed it out at street corners, or added their own commentary and sent it willy nilly to every person they knew. But at least Dr. Bob wouldn't have facilitated that. It made a difference to me.
This is me, and other people have other concerns. And to others none of it is a concern.
