Maybe not, but mean is not the standard we use. Dr. Bob asks us, through the guidelines in the FAQ, not to post things that could lead others to feel accused or put down, and to be sensitive to their feelings.
> Maybe bulldog should have not said anything
That's always of option. The only 100% foolproof way to be sure you're not uncivil, I suppose :-)
> or should have worded things differently.
Right. I think it's reasonable to believe someone could feel put down by someone asking "do you suffer from a cognitive disorder?" (regardless of their intention - intent is difficult, if not impossible - to determine with written words) or describing their posts as "disordered and very disturbed thoughts." I might feel hurt by those sorts of remarks in response to one of my posts. I think there are more sensitive ways to ask about Phillipa's meaning.
> If anything bulldog could have said that he(?)was having a hard time understanding what Phillipa was saying. Would that have been the wrong thing to do also?
No, certainly not. In fact, Scott's post is a good example of a simple and sensitive way to do that.
Hope that helps clarify, and thanks for asking.
