Definitely.
Do any specific rules come to mind?
Is it perhaps the punitive system that creates more hurt rather than the presence of the rule?
You can see what a real pain in the butt this thing can be if you were to try to build it to completion before accepting the first post. Dr. Bob had the advantage of putting the thing together ad hoc. He could experiment and try one little change at a time. In a way, we are at a disadvantage to be able to anticipate the need for specific rules. We have been well trained by Dr. Bob and his protocol for enforcing his rules for civil communication, that we don't often see overtly hurtful attacks by one member upon another.
