Other than saying Riley's got a very good answer, I'd also like to point out that recovering from international travel can take some time -- AND that Dr Bob probably has a gazillion emails to sift through. Some of those will be urgent and about his patients, so they should have priority. Some may be administrative issues from University of Chicago, also higher priority, since we want him to remain employed so that he can continue to run this site.
He's probably got a bunch of personal emails, maybe from his mother, or his cousin, or brother, or whomever it might be. After sifting through all those urgent work emails, I want him to take care of his personal stuff like that, so that he can give his attention to Babble with fewer distraction. So, they're the next highest priority.
And then, he'll come along to the Babble related emails -- but he probably scans the boards before he starts reading them. Keep in mind that he'll have EVERY notification which has been sent, and EVERY response from every deputy about each one. That alone is a mountain of email. Then there are the emails sent to him from posters, to address problems, or make comments, which are for his eyes only.
He's probably got several hundred emails to sift through, if not more. I'm sure he'll read your email as soon as he can, but I'd bet it won't be the very first one he sees.
So, Deneb, I doubt it's personal that you haven't yet heard from him. It's possible you won't hear from him, it's possible you will. But give it time before you decide there's a problem.
