M-W says:
Main Entry: b*·bu
Variant(s): also b*·boo /'bä-(")bü/
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Hindi b*bu, literally, father
1 : a Hindu gentleman -- a form of address corresponding to Mr.
2 a : an Indian clerk who writes English
b often disparaging : an Indian having some education in English

Guess 2b is the potential problem. The program just asterisks any word that has a possible *negative* usage. Just like p*m-p*ms, which I wrote about somewhere above.Don't worry, muffy. I think you called me that and I had no idea what the heck it meant AND I thought it sounded sweet, 'specially coming from you. No problem. We're always learning something about words here, it seems. Whether it's always useful or not, well.... lol - 10der
