I think I know what prompted your question, and I don't think that it was about any post you made. I think it was about someone else's post.As far as using someone's name, it's perfectly fine to use someone's current posting name in your post. You can say, "Dear GG, ..." or "GG, you're so awesome" ;-), and that's not a problem. If I used to post under a different name, let's say "old gg", you shouldn't use that name after the change, because I might not wish to be connected with the old name. So if you wrote a post to me today and used "old gg" in it, I might not like that.
So as far as I know, I think the short answer to the rule is that you always use the poster's current screen name in your post, (unless the screen name itself is something uncivil.)
