from the FAQ:Why is my password longer (or shorter) than it should be?
What's automatically entered in the "password" box isn't your actual password, but, for security reasons, an encrypted version, which may be longer (or shorter).
Example for demonstration purposes:
Password: [several bullet points here]You can post with either the encrypted version or your actual password.

could that be what has happened Sebastian? the original password exists but doesn't show identical length due to encryption.the FAQ also has links to how to change your password if you would like. http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#reset
which then links you to the secure site
https://dr-bob.securesites.com/cgi-bin/pb/newpwd.pl>>> I don't know what it is anymore. Or who changed it. What do I do? Whatever the new password is its in the computers at my old job and at home. No one from my work has ever been in my house. I think they may have even posted something in my name. I don't think I'm crazy, but I noticed the password was longer than usual a few months ago. But the old one still worked, untill now?<<<
