"I'm baffled by all the expressions of undying love and affection between people who've never met."
One of the fascinating things about making friends online, is that you really get to knows someone *insides", their brain and heart.. It is really quite easy to fall in love with someones "soul" online.. Someo f the deepest friendships I have are online, and though most of those I have met in real life now, they were still close friends to me before I met them.
I also met my husband, 8 years ago, in a chat room.. We simply got chatting one day and really hit it off, so chatted more and more.. before moving to phone, and finally meeting in real life. As much as I denied it all, I was *completely* in love with him before we met, and he with me, as we had clicked on a much deeper level than we probably would have done had we met in, say, a night club.
I've bene online a long time, and it took a good few years before I could begin to understand it.. But, like I say, it really is possible to build a really close friendship without having ever met face to face.
