In the earlier days there were a couple of owner run rooms, but now they are all member run - Oh, except for one chat room that the site opens into when you log in.
Most people just use others rooms, though often they will have a room set to private (passworded) that they can have private coversations in.. Each member *can* have up to 6 rooms though, so as you can imagine theres alot of unused rooms there! Those that work best tend to be around certain themes (for example, one room for people to list their favourite recipes, or the room for bereaved women etc), though the most popular message board is a general free for all!
