Yet the statements are there in your question. If someone were to post "Is it okay if I post 'GG is a moron'?", I would certainly feel offended. Wouldn't you if "so" were substituted for "GG" in the above example? I would not expect Dr. Bob to let that one fly. If he did, then it seems that anyone could post anything they like in the form of the question "Is it okay if I post ___?" Yikes, that would be er, interesting.
Regarding "how 'bout": It is short for "how about". Yes, it's colloquial. Whether it represents a demand or a suggestion lies both within the the intent of the writer and the perception of the reader.
