In-group/out-group stuff?

Lordy, it's been ages since Social Psych. but I seem to recall something about this. Us vs. Them leading to negative feelings. Whereas if there were instead a feeling that we were all one big group, albeit on two ships, there would be less competition or negative feelings about the other group. Or something like that.
How 'bout we view all mental health support forums as one big convoy to mental health?
