What would you have someone say, in face of what certainly looked like a question about intentional self-harm? Not answering the question might be more harmful, IMHO (by leaving an inference that the truth ought not to be told), rather than suggesting that such an act wouldn't have the adverse outcome that may have been considered. Ya know?
