Could work have blocked open?

I just get a white screen - no box to post in. I know that they can be picky, picky, picky about how we spend our time at work, and they recently did something or other so that we can't play games online (though we can still download free trials). I couldn't even play Conway's game of life (which has relevance for my classes dammit!). Could this have something to do with why I can't get open?
Feeling verrrrrrry technologically challenged today :-(
