Lately, I've seen a bunch of posts to specific posters like chemist and Larry Hoover and a few others who are out of action for one reason or another right now and it got my little mind going a bit. How would it be to have a page that lists regular posters who are away for a time? Someplace that people could check if they were worried about someone?
The one thing I'm not sure of, though, is the blocked posters. I think it would be a service to a lot of us -- especially those of us who really don't follow the saga over here on admin and may not have seen the block notices -- to have a place to check to see if someone we're looking for is blocked, and if so for how long. On the other hand, I can also understand someone who is blocked not necessarily wanting that fact broadcast. (Personally, since the block notices are 'public', I'm inclined to say that the privacy issue is moot and that the dates of the block may as well be shown.)
You already have the info on blocks, and any regular who is going to be away for a known length of time could choose whether or not to send you (or a deputy) a note giving the dates of the "away", and maybe whether it's a good "away" -- like a white sand beach, with tanned beach boys bringing mimosas in the morning -- or a not so good one, so we'd know to be extra supportive when they get back.
Whatcha think? Within the realm of possibility?
